Community Minister, Rev. Sue Matranga-Watson

Rev. Sue Matranga-Watson has been Eastrose's Community Minister since 2000.

Before being ordained as a minister, Sue was active with Eastrose in many capacities: membership, Sunday service, fundraising, and board member including two terms as Board President.

Sue received her Masters in Spiritual Traditions & Ethics and  Pastoral Care and Ministries from Marylhurst University. Her chaplain training included working at the Portland VA hospital and Providence Medical Center and Hospice.

Sue works as a chaplain in the retirement community of Mary's Woods, serving especially the people who live in assisted living, skilled nursing, and the memory special unit.  She also works for Kaiser Sunnyside hospital.

As Eastrose's Community Minister, she leads monthly classes for new UU's, provides back-up for the parish minister for rituals like weddings, memorial services, etc., and represents Eastrose in the UU and greater community.

Sue says this about Eastrose. "The first time I came to Eastrose, I knew I was home.  I found a place that accepted my journey of spiritual growth with warm and loving people.  I am proud to be the Community Minister at Eastrose Fellowship Unitarian Universalist."

In June 2004, Rev. Sue Matranga-Watson  supervised Mary Knight, Community Minister, doing her internship at Eastrose.
