February 12, 2012    “The Dark Side of Love: Secrets of the Heart”

Speaker:  Reverend Maynard
Program Leader:

From time to time I meet other Unitarian Universalists who share my embrace of the ideals of  Taoism. My wristwatch has the yin-yang symbol on it – each side including the opposite. As so it is with Love – the joy harbors the terror and the sense of union begets abandonment. If you ever saw The Fantastic ks play, you know what I mean.

The choir will sing.

February 19, 2012         “Inner Landscapes”

Speaker:  Judy Zimmerman
Program Leader: Carol Knox

What might the terrain in which we live have to tell us about who we are?  How might the outer landscape shape the contours of the landscapes within each of us?  Join us for a whimsical exploration of the geography of the heart, mind, and spirit. Judy Zimmerman is long active in the Hillsboro UU congregation and currently works as a ministerial intern at our Salem church and as Coordinator of  Oregon UU Voices for Justice.

A special concert with  The Children's Peace Choir will be offered at Noon.

Program Leader:

From the prophets Jeremiah and Amos to Ralph Nader and Leymah Gbowee with thousands in-between we as a culture benefit from outrage and the outrageous. Rest assured, at they time they speak almost nobody really likes them – and they change the world. As Black History Month draws to a close, a look at the role of outrage in our lives.
