Hikes in the Columbia Gorge and Oregon Coast

Wednesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 30

June 23 – Catherine Creek State Park, a beautiful natural area under restoration on the Washington side of the Columbia River, between Bingen and Lyle. Free day-use. Meet at Eastrose at 8 AM. Easy trail on south side and medium to difficult trails on north side. Bring water, sunscreen, hiking boots and snacks. Lunch possible at Hood River, Stevenson or Cascade Locks.

June 30 – Oswald West State Park, a spectacular piece of coastline south of Arch Cape and Cannon Beach. Medium difficulty trails start at Smuggler’s Cove and go both south and north toward Highway 101.  We could do both Elk Flats Trail—1.3 miles—and Cape Falcon Trail –2.3 miles (the Neahkahnie Mountain trial is closed). Meet at Eastrose at 8 AM. Bring water, sunscreen, hiking boots and snacks. Lunch possible at Cannon Beach or Camp 18 on Highway 26.
