Five years into being a widow with no grandchildren, children in their 50’s who didn’t need me, I (Carol Knox) felt compelled to write my autobiography which may be found at Eastrose. In order to feel like I had a purpose–for a while–and maybe even discover who I am now. After having realized how valuable it is for my defense mechanism to be the ability to laugh at myself, I named it “And Then There Was Laughter”. I’ll be sharing excerpts from the book that tell about the people and events that shaped who I am today–interspersing my feelings, philosophy and humor. The service will feature some of my favorite songs: Imagine (the Beatles); I Have a Dream (ABBA); and Both Sides, Now (Joni Mitchell). The last of which will be sung by Tyler P. and Luna C.

Carol became a member of Eastrose in the 1970’s so that her two children would be taught her philosophy on life. She taught English and drama in high school and ESL to Japanese students. Her purpose at Eastrose became so much more. Carol has been a pulpit speaker and worship leader, been on the board, involved in every committee, in the singing choir and the speech choir, and on the fund raisers, in some capacity, through the years.
